Paint.NET是一個圖像和照片處理軟件，它由華盛頓州立大學的學生開發和維護並由微軟公司提供項目指導，早期定位于MS Paint的免費替代軟件，現在逐漸發展為一個功能強大且易用的的圖像和照片處理軟件，支持圖層，無限制的曆史記錄，特效，和許多實用工具，並且開放源代碼和完全免費，界面看起來有點像Photoshop。該軟件的開發語言是C#。

這個畫面與功能看起來極像PhotoShop的軟體是小畫家？沒錯！它就是Windows內建的小畫家下一代的版本，由微軟和華聖頓大學合作，利用C#和GDI extensions所開發出來的加強版小畫家，計畫在未來的Windows中取代現有的小畫家程式。

可千萬不要把對現有Windows中小畫家的印象套進Paint.NET喔，因為Paint.NET不管是在操作介面或功能方面，都比現有的小畫家強了很多；像是多種範圍選取功能、多格式轉檔、上色、圖片裁切、去背、圖像特效、特殊濾鏡套用等超多功能一應俱全，根本就是精簡版的PhotoShop！

如果你嫌手邊的免費繪圖軟體功能太陽春，專業一點的又太貴，那就趕緊來試試Paint.NET吧！
